SET THE STANDARD #11: JAXON PATERSON-WRIGHT

"I just want to be known as someone that never leaves anything to chance"

"Even if I don't achieve a certain goal, I can't be upset because I know that there's literally nothing I possibly could have done different"

21-year-old Brisbane runner Jaxon Paterson-Wright remembers his parents saying that as soon as he started to walk, he just started to run and didn't stop.

“Running is generally just intrinsically within me"

“It's just something that I love doing and is easily my favourite thing"

“You just feel like you’re part of something bigger than yourself"

Showing his talent at such a young age, Jaxon currently holds personal bests of 1:55:62 in the 800m, 3:52:87 in the 1500m, 8:16:12 in the 3000m, and 14:57:42 in the 5000m on the track.

“I did my first school cross country and came third and it sparked a bit of fire in me to come back the next year and do a bit better,”

“I just want to be known as someone that never leaves anything to chance.

“Even if I don't achieve a certain goal, I can't be upset because I know that there's literally nothing, I possibly could have done different”.

With his whole future ahead of him, Jaxon plans to leave no stone unturned.

“I'm really looking forward to seeing how far I can take the sport and it's pretty exciting”.
