The Good Human Factory: Building a Healthier Future for Mental Health
It’s Mental Health ‘ACTION’ Day, and the spotlight is on taking concrete steps towards improving mental health. Founded in 2020 by ex-pro surfer Cooper Chapman, The Good Human Factory was born out of personal tragedy and a desire to promote well-being. After witnessing his sister lose multiple friends to suicide in her last year of high school, Cooper’s goal became clear: to connect people with simple tools to enhance their mental health and thrive in life.
Cooper’s interest in mental health was prompted by his father’s bout with depression and the suicide of two family friends. Meditating on a regular basis and practicing mindfulness helps Cooper manage his anxiety and perform at a high level, whether he’s competing in a contest or giving a speech. He understands the importance of mental health and believes that we all need to become more aware of and take responsibility for our mental well-being. The Good Human Factory aims to inspire a shift in perspective through workshops, podcasts, merchandise, and a strong community, emphasising that mental health is not synonymous with mental illness.
Their workshops teach science-backed skills such as mindfulness, gratitude, kindness, empathy, and taking responsibility for one's mental state. Since its inception, The Good Human Factory has reached over 40,000 students and 10,000 corporate participants, demonstrating the vital role of education and community in promoting mental wellness.
Why This Collaboration Matters
The LSKD Connection: Impact Through Action
At LSKD, our mission is to support and empower our community to be 1% better every day, and this collaboration is a perfect representation of that. We are dedicated to making a difference, and by joining forces with The Good Human Factory, we are amplifying our impact. Every purchase of the “Grow Through What You Go Through” Tee not only provides a quality product but also contributes directly to mental health education. We invite you to be part of this journey with us, knowing that your support is making a positive difference in the lives of students who need it most.
"Challenges are opportunties for growth. Instead of seeing difficulties as setbacks, embrace them as stepping stones to becoming stronger and wiser. By facing adverisity with resilience and an open heart, you can transform struggles into catalysts for personal development. Every obstacle is a chance to rise, learn and be 1% better every day" - Cooper Chapman
Strength in Community: Join Us in Making a Difference
At LSKD, we understand that change is most powerful when we come together as a community. This partnership with The Good Human Factory is just the beginning. We want to engage our LSKD family in meaningful conversations about mental health and well-being.
In the spirit of fostering connection, we invite you to revisit our previous blog titled “To My Past, Present or Future Self…” This reflection piece from last year encouraged our team to take a moment for themselves and express love and support through messages to their past, present, or future selves, this is a powerful reminder to check in with yourself and show yourself the love you deserve.
As we take care of each other this World Mental Health Day, remember that self-love is essential for being able to care for others.
